Currently, we put all our videos on Vimeo so we can have closed captions on all of them, and then we add a link to global resources out to the vimeo video. Doing this, we can't make it private because it goes off the settings in Vimeo. We would love to upload videos directly into Absorb and have automatic closed captions generated for it, similar to how when you upload a video as a learning object, you can add closed captions to the video.
We would also love this feature. We create short learning videos each month that go into our global resources. Currently, we just include a transcript in the same folder as the video, but this is not ideal for learners trying to watch the video and read the transcript, especially on a mobile device. This is also an issue because we send out direct links to the video - if people don't log in to find the video and transcript, they may not know the transcript exists.
I'm not sure how I am the only one who would like this feature. If the programming can be done for this inside a course, can it not be also added for the resource hub?
Absorb Team...Please review this. There is a need to have close-captions added to videos linked as a Resource.
Does anyone have a workaround for this? The only thing I could think of is to open the video files in Adobe Premiere and embed closed captions into the video, however the learner won't be able to turn those off so I'm wondering if there is a better workaround for uploading videos into global resources and needing closed captions on them. Anyone?
