We have curricula with mandatory courses for employees and would like to be able to include optional courses that employees are not required to complete but are available as part of a series.
Thank you for your idea. We do believe that Curriculum Groups where you can set one to be the mandatory courses (i.e. set to "Must Complete All" and another group to house your optional courses (i.e. set to Minimum Courses of "0"), as well as perhaps even combined with Pace Progress functionality to complete them in series, satisfies this request. Please let us know if that is not the case.
There is a way to make courses within the curriculum optional, without getting the "In Progress" status upon enrollment and we’re doing it already. We have a curriculum that has 10 courses, 8 of which are set as required to complete the curriculum. The other two courses are in a section with 0 of 2 as required.
BUT there's a hitch.
Learners get an in-progress status if they already have NOT STARTED but ENROLLED courses and it doesn’t seem to matter if the courses are included in the new curriculum or not – just any course enrollments) OR when I manually enroll someone in the curriculum (even when they aren’t enrolled in any other courses already).
ALL LEARNERS GET THE EXPECTED NOT-STARTED STATUS WHEN…
NOT PREVIOUSLY ENROLLED IN ANY OTHER COURSES, OR
NOT MANUALLY ENROLLED IN THE CURRICULUM.
However, I believe not-started should be the expected status of newly enrolled curriculum unless the learner has previous enrollments in courses in the curriculum and 1 or more of those courses already has in-progress or completed statuses.
