My team would love to be able to remove the 'add to calendar' button for ILCs as it causes so many headaches for us.
When we have strict caps on numbers, whether we use a waitlist or approvals for sessions, learners can still download the calendar invite with the Zoom link (is this a bug?). The waitlist/approval email is sent but once they have the course in their calendar, our learners assume that they are confirmed for the course which leads our team to have to send apologetic emails for the confusing enrolment process.
We have tried to not include the Zoom links in the calendar invite but if the learner downloads the .ics file first, the session confirmation email that is sent does not replace the .ics file with the missing Zoom link.
Hi there - not being able to turn off this button is incredibly frustrating for LMS admin and for learners. People naturally click "Add to calendar" once they enroll, overriding the email from the system with pertinent information.
The add to calendar doesn't include the information we've spent a lot of time making clear in the custom email template that goes out once someone is enrolled. Do we have an update on this?
We have similar problems with the ICS file -- works well for some applications and but not for others. The option of turning it off and embedding instructions in the enrollment/session emails would be less confusing.
The formatting (e.g. fonts) is pretty spartan and translates in Outlook as Times Roman. Looks dowdy. Including Teams Links in session emails requires the full path (super long). I'd prefer a 'Click Here' option with the link hidden.
Also, being able to set the reminder time would be helpful for the ICS file. The default of one day isn't always appropriate -- sometimes we'd like to set it to 15/30 minutes depending on circumstances.
I would love this option. Rather than having the learner add to calendar, we would like to control that externally. We have a problem when someone adds a meeting to their calendar but then deletes it, thinking they have unassigned themself from the class.
We would love to be able to remove the "add to calendar" button as well! We do not need it at all and it causes so many problems. The formatting looks no good. The link to the session is to be found only in the field "location" where it is not clickable. It has to be copied to the browser. Sometimes our links are very long and under "location" they are cut off at the rear, so they do not work anymore.
Our users get an email after enrollment with all necessary information, including the complete link. We don't need an additional "add to calendar" button.
Therefore, please give us the chance to remove / hide / de-activate it. We would like to stop telling our learners not to use the "add to calendar" button. Thanks!
Thank you for reviewing and the update, Demetrio. I submitted a help ticket previously about the issue with learners being able to download the calendar invite while still waiting to be approved so I think that part of the issue has been resolved now. Though I would still love to be able to turn off the button as some learners don't know to wait for the automatic meeting invite they will receive when enrolling in a session. Instead they use the button to download an invite which overwrites the automatically sent one. When the auto invite does come through a few minutes later, rather than accepting the invite, they can only click 'no response required' which then deletes the auto invite and all the information that we have put there.
We have found some workaround processes for now but it is tricky not knowing who has what version of the invite is in their calendars. It also forces us to include the Zoom link in the meeting description that technically anyone not enrolled can see as we like to have a blue hyperlink to Zoom in all calendar invites just to make it easier for the learner to access on the day.
Thank you for your idea. We will investigate and determine how best to implement a solution for pre-enrollment and post-enrollment use cases.
This would be incredibly helpful functionality because we often provide links to pre-work reminders and at times additional session details. At a minimum if the formatting options were available in the description that would also help. Our current work around is to send a separate session reminder email with the relevant details to ensure nothing is missed.
