Currently, the Author field is reserved for third-party purchased or Absorb purchased content. This field is vacant for all courses which our organization creates in the LMS. We currently don't have a native field to document who created the course contents for specific resources. The closest we currently have is the Vendor field, which creates some complications in our reporting if we were to use this for names of individuals as well as third-parties. If we could use the Author field to name certain instructors within our organization that authored course content, it would create useful metrics for us to track.
