Curriculum Status

We have various curricula which contain courses that must be completed annually. I have the courses set with auto re-enrollment 1 year from completion, but once that timeframe comes and the user receives the enrollment email and logs into Absorb they do not see a course as incomplete. Their curriculum still says "Completed" so they just think the email is an error. The user doesn't think to look into each curricula to see if there is a course that is now "not started". It doesn't make sense that the curriculum doesn't change status back to "in progress" as there is now a course that needs to be completed. I have to un-enroll users from curricula after they complete it in order for any auto re-enrollments to be seen, which really defeats the purpose of using a curriculum. We want to be able to easily see that our employees are enrolled in the correct curriculum for their position, but once they are removed we can no longer quickly or easily see that.

We have a similar issue regarding compliance training that's completed every 1-2 years - we keep this in a bundle so it's easier to locate/check completion, but when a re-enrollment comes around the bundle still shows as complete, so users are still struggling to locate the due course. Having a bundle or curriculum update from Complete to In Progress would definitely support our users and reduce the number of queries our admins receive.

This has become an issue for our staff who have to complete Compliance Training on an annual basis that we have bundled into a curriculum to keep them all together and push out to all new staff. Users get hung up on the fact that they see the 100% completion for the curriculum and then assume it's already done. It results in staff asking us questions on why they received a notification to complete the e-learning when "it's already completed based on the 100% curriculum completion". We therefore risk damaging user engagement in the system which we definitely want to avoid.

Currently we are circumventing this by advising staff that they need to ignore the 100% curriculum completion and go into the curriculum each time to see what has not been started; but because the refresher is an annual thing, they'll forget or lose the e-mail with our "education piece on it".

We have come across this issue when adding courses to job-specific curriculums. The additional courses were previously not in Absorb LMS as we were waiting on a Document Management System to be deployed.

After updating the curriculum, I use the Curriculum Activity Report to set everyone's status to "Not Complete". That ensures that the curriculum will be visible on the My Courses screen. The status and percentage will update once they complete one enrollment.
