We are happy to hear this feature is adding value to the learner experience. Thank you for this additional feedback regarding configurations. We will re-evaluate this enhancement in the future as we prioritize our features. Please continue to share your feedback and your votes here.
I agree. The feature is great. Thank you for adding it. At the same time, we also don't have a need to apply that option to each of our videos one at a time. We probably don't have as many as some people, but we have quite a few. Being able to set that by department would be good.
@Whitney - either would be fine. I was just thinking "template" level because that could give other organizations the opportunity to easily make the default "off" if they prefer instead. I don't see any issue with the playback speed being adjustable for all videos on our end. Someone could easily play a video and then walk away from their computer...I think that's more likely to be the case if they really don't want to consume the content but want to "check the box".
I also agree 100% with being able to enable it by default. I was so excited to see the feature added and it went from being something I can implement right away to a 'someday project' to edit every lesson to enable it. We have no reason to restrict the speed of consumption for any courses.
100% agreed with Christina. It would be ideal to be able to set the default setting at the template or even portal/system level. I would argue that most customers of Absorb would prefer to have the ability for people to chose their video playback speeds as a default as I'm guessing that most adult learning is not compliance related. So if the compliance piece is the less likely scenario, it'd be way easier for admins to set up defaults to have videos allow various playback speeds and then we can select which ones need to have that setting disables as opposed to it being the other way around.
Thank you for the feedback Christina. For compliance and accessibility reasons, the toggle to enable / disable video playback speeds are lesson specific.
Are there scenarios at your organization where using a template level setting might cause issues with leaners playing the videos at inappropriate speeds (similar to seeking or skipping content)? Also, are you thinking a portal or template setting?
Good day. This is targeted to be release with the November release, scheduled for Nov 27/28, including an admin configuration on video lessons (much like Disable Seeking) that affords you to determine whether or not learner's playing at different speeds meets your requirements (e.g. compliance).
Can we please have this on the road map for videos? As they are majority of the content of the course are videos and if students are reading the captions, they can go faster. It is a basic youtube function... can you tell us what month this will be available??
Yes, this would be very helpful for us. I had the thought myself and recently received an inquiry about this feature. Would be very useful for dense subject matter and/or detailed trainings. Thanks!
Thank you for this idea! We have this on our radar for the next generation of our learner experience. We anticipate that this will involve an option for an admin to disable playback speed options if need be for compliance purposes. We will have more of a timeline once our 2022 roadmap is defined.

Any chance this can be configured at the template level in the future? Would love for the default to be "on" for all videos.
We have added video playback speeds so Learners can learn at a pace that suits them (November 2022 release). Admins can configure this functionality on each video lesson. Please see https://support.absorblms.com/hc/en-us/articles/11333412202899-November-Release-Notes-and-Details-2022#01GJ5H2JRSXH1KHDX3V2N4PKJG for more details. Thank you again for your idea!

This feature is requested often by our learners. Any way to see what the planned release date is?

I just reached out to the helpdesk about this. Happy to hear it is already in the works!

Create an option along with it to set the default speed in your profile.
