Currently in Absorb LMS in the Learner view, there is an icon in the top right hand side of courses (beside the "pin" icon) that allows learners to "share" the course and opens up a pop up window giving them an option to copy a direct link to the course to send to anyone of their choosing.
I would like to see the ability to choose to turn the "share course icon" OFF when uploading a course.
The challenge with this feature is that our LMS is not being used for public or employee consumption, we are a non-profit and our users are our members. Not all courses we load into the LMS are going to be available for all members, and not all of our members will have the ability to access the LMS at this time, due to the need for us to control amount of licenses. This "share course" feature could easily make our members think they can share this course with anyone, including those who do not have a license. Even if the LMS is set up in a way that not just anyone can access the course or LMS, members who get error messages or who cannot log into the LMS at all will get frustrated when the link that was shared with them "doesn't work". This creates an additional burden on our staff to answer these calls having to explain why they cannot access the course their friend shared with them. This also creates un-necessary frustration for members by drawing additional attention to the fact they cannot access the LMS tool at this time.
I propose that in the course creation process that there be an option to "disable" the share course icon.
System Admins and Admins would need this functionality
The impact of this change would ensure that our limited admin staff would not have to field questions from members who feel they should be able to access a course if their friend had the ability to share the link.
