Allow Department Templates to be Duplicated

Allowing to Department Templates to be duplicated would be helpful to allow all the settings and backgrounds to be transferred and then tweaked when two Departments need to look/function similarly, especially when it comes to hex codes for colors and imagery.

Same situation for me! Since we can only create templates by department, when we have a group that are not all in the same department, we have to create multiple templates. I have 40+ departments that I need a template for. It would be incredible to be able to duplicate it. As it stands, I will have to manually create the same template and insert all the graphics, links etc over 40 times. If we cannot duplicate templates, can you give us other options (besides department) that we can create them for? Thanks for considering this feature. Would be a game changer!

@demetrio I think Frances shows an excellent example. This is our use case as well. I have created a custom template, with custom widgets and in order to use the same template with a few tweaks to the 10 other templates I need to create, I have to create them all from scratch. Additionally it would be helpful to be able to have a custom template created for a specific department and then re-assign or add an additional department to that template.

@Demetrio Pagano I am unclear as to what you are asking for us to provide to you? I clicked the link and its an overview of the Department Template setting and choices. I'll take a stab at it and see if its what you need. We have one overarching Department with a bunch of sub-departments, each one has its own unique look, ribbons/tiles, images, color/style guide etc. I attached an example, in this exmple Department D is brand new, and we need to create its Template to be very close to Dept C, but as of now, we have to just add a new Department, which is based off the Yellow overarching one and re-create Department C and then tweak is just a bit to make it its own Department template. If we could copy just the Template for Dept C we could then save all the time re-creating it and then just tweak the few bits that changed. In this example Department D is not/should not be a sub of Dept C but looks very similar to it, NOT the over arching Dept yellow box.

Thank you for this idea. Might you share a bit more about your use cases that do not involve utilizing the current functionality for template hierarchy and inheritance of these types of dashboard containers and tweaking? We would appreciate hearing more about your business needs.

100% I am looking to create 19 + templates with virtually the same containers, but just minor changes. It would be great to duplicate one and make the minor edits, rather than re-create each one over and over.

I'd like to do this just to refresh the dashboard from time to time for "changes in the seasons", "special events", etc.

I've never understood why this isn't an option.
