Best Practices for Idea Submissions
An idea can be a suggestion for improving a feature, a suggestion to add new functionality to an area of the LMS, or a suggestion for something brand new that the platform doesn’t yet support. We suggest submitting ideas that are detailed to help Absorb understand the problem to solve and to rally votes from other clients.
Before adding a new idea:
Before adding a new idea, please search for similar posts. If someone has already submitted your suggestion, upvote it! Be sure to add a comment that describes how your use case might be similar to, or different from, the original idea. Votes are a strong indicator that an idea is popular and should be investigated more closely.
Add a new idea:
If you can’t find a similar idea, please make sure to include the following information when adding yours:
Answer the question – What would you like to be able to do? This should be a clear description of the problem to be solved.
Answer the question – how would that help you? This should describe how your business would benefit from this change. Include an example of a use case where the LMS does not meet your needs today.
The segment of learners that you’re targeting with this idea (internal, external, or blended).
Let us know how important this idea is to you. Is it nice to have, important or critical?
The Absorb team reviews popular ideas frequently. You’ll know that an idea has been reviewed when it moves from one status to another. Once an idea is moved to a new status category you will receive an email with the new status and a link to visit the idea.
What do the different status options mean?
The statuses are arranged in a happy path; however, ideas may transition through in a non-linear fashion.
Unreviewed: This idea has not been reviewed by the Product team, given the volume of ideas submitted, popular ideas are reviewed by the Product team and categorized accordingly.
Reviewed: This idea has been reviewed and responded to, but no decision has been made. Maybe more information is needed, or perhaps we are waiting to hear about competing use cases.
Currently Available: This idea has been reviewed and the Product team has determined that it’s currently available in the LMS. This may be a newly released feature, or the workflow can be achieved using a combination of available features.
Under Consideration: This idea is recognized as valuable; a combination of client needs, and strategic fit will help the Product team determine if and when this idea can be elevated to the next stage. Communicate the importance of this enhancement to your Client Services Representative relative to other ideas. Clients who voted on this idea may be engaged in further discussions on requirements.
Low Probability of Delivery: This item has been reviewed; however, the Product team has determined that it does not align with our current strategy and is not planned for delivery at this time.
Fair Probability of Delivery: This item is planned for development but given our agile and iterative development process priorities can change. Ideas in this status may be delayed or deferred in favor of other functionality as our goal is to serve your needs most effectively.
