The course description view is VERY limited by default. We rely on customers to click the arrow to view the majority of the course description.
Could Absorb:
Allow the default view to be larger?
Allow us to customize the size of the default view?
Making the down arrow more prominent and/or include some soft of "Click here for more details" note?
In the prior suggestions forum, I see this request going back to 2016!

Thank you for working hard on a solution, unfortunately, what was implemented isn't what I was asking for. What you did was create a setting so that once a person enrolls in the course once they open it it will automatically show all the course details but you have to remember that when this feature was originally requested this snazzy new player interface didn't exist.
The real issue is that people can't see the full course description expanded BEFORE they enroll in the course. I would like to see the course description expanded/enlarged when you click on a course to see more about it. See the attached screenshot for the location I'm referring to.
Tracy this a great question. This update is specific to the new online Course Player which was released in July (https://support.absorblms.com/hc/en-us/articles/7542148445459-July-Release-Notes-and-Details-2022). To access the Course Player and the ability to set the details pane (in turn the Course Description) as expanded upon first launch, you will need to enable the Next Generation LE toggle (Portal Settings > Users (tab) > Enable Next Generation LE (toggle). Hope these details point you in the right direction!
We do not have a Courses section under our Courses tab in the template. We can't toggle this on because it's not there yet. Has this been rolled out to everyone?
We have now released changes (November 2022 release) that allow Admins to configure whether the Details pane, which includes the Course Description, is displayed by default upon first launch of the Course Player. Learners can also expand and collapse the Details pane as they wish. Please see https://support.absorblms.com/hc/en-us/articles/11333412202899-November-Release-Notes-and-Details-2022#01GJ5H2JRS61NN95YPEG6S3KTP for more details. Thank you again for your idea!
We could use this, as well. In our case, it would be good to have the full course description showing when someone lands on the course description page. We carry a lot of text in our courses as well (as far as Course Description goes) and also rely on staff reading the full course description on the course landing page to understand what they need to do. Having this default to expanded would be helpful in our instance. The lesson descriptions within a course and the description on the course overview (when you click on a tile from the catalog) works fine as-is in our case. Thank you!
Thank you again. We are actively looking at this feature right now by displaying/expanding the Course Details including the Description (in our next generation Course Player and/or Discovery modal) by default on startup. Would this be something for all courses or some when your learners start (as this will factor in to admin configuration)? That is, to balance streamlined time to learning with ensuring course description is read, we also need to assess if all or a subset of your courses have more description details than others. Thank you for your perspectives.
This would be good if we can add am embdded video - like a trailer for hte course in the course descriptipon
I just had this come up as a "complaint" to me from a user. They signed up for a course that wasn't relevant to them simply because they didn't read the full course description.
Thank you for this idea! We did include these two original suggestion forum ideas into our LE next generation review, and a rework of the Course Details page including the course description is in our plans for 2022 (after our initial focus on the Dashboard and Lesson Player). I have now also included this Idea link as a reference for that rework. We will provide further details on timelines once our 2022 roadmap is defined.
