we have different department that has similar names, like Dr. X office.
If we are able to just select all the departments (or check off multiple departments) when we were creating the department filter, that would be great.
Currently I have to download the file and use excel to do this because their filter is much easier to use if I have multiple departments that I need to select

If you are adding department filters on a report, while you would need to add them one at a time, you can add multiple department filters and OR logic is applied between those departments so that you can see data for all the users associated with those departments on the report.
