Deep linking ability for resources Merged

Currently, when I try to deep link to a resource, users will be instead brought to the log in page for absorb. As a workaround, we have linked to the resource search results, identifying only the targeted resource. This is fine, but adds another clicks for users. I would like to the ability to deep link directly to a resource. For example, user clicks a link and is brought to an open PDF vs. brought to absorb where they have to click another link to open the resource.

Any update on this? I'd love to see it added on https://support.absorblms.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015756188-Deep-Link-Support#. Functionality like https://yourdomain.myabsorb.com/#/resources/resourceid would be great.

    The current workarounds are lacking:

    • Deep link directly to the /files/(resourceid)/Private/Resources/(filename), which works if logged in but shows the unfriendly warning (attached) if you're not

    • Deep link to the Resources section, which requires extra clicks and could cause our resources hierarchy to become unsustainable

Thank you all for this feedback. There are a couple ideas that are similar to this:

We need this as well, with the functionality to retain any restrictions/ availability rules. That way we can link to a resource but still ensure that only users who meet the rules can actually access the content in that link.

I feel this is an important development that's required. We may use a PDF added to Global Resources in multiple courses. When we update the PDF, we have to go into every course and manually update the PDF there. Even if we used the link from the file manager, it only links to the current version - if you change the version number, the URL is linking to an older version. This would save a lot of time in managing content and would also ensure a positive learner experience as they'd always be viewing the most up to date content.

Additionally, there are times when we are answering a question in the collaboration space, adding info to an FAQ, or answering a question offline via email, and we want to be able to send the link to the relevant resource to help solve their problem.

Competitors have this function, so it's very disappointing that Absorb doesn't!

William - I hope they bring it back. We were told that the new file manager may have a workaround for this, so we shall see!

In older versions of the software, Absorb had functionality for this. But they eliminated resource deep linking with the current version of the platform. Was told that may be bringing this back. Finger crossed.

As a workaround, you can deep link to lessons. Just make sure that you have not turned on the new Learner Experience, which has eliminated deep links for lessons :(

We are experiencing the same problem and would love for Absorb to allow for deep linking global resources. We can deep link for online courses and ILCs, but not for global resources. I understand global resources are treated differently from courses, but it would be extremely helpful for our company to have this functionality.
