Adding more information to user account history

After selecting a user and attempting to review the history for admin actions performed on their account, it appears limited with the information available.

Currently it appears to only offer the following:

  • When the account was created and by who.

  • When the account was made inactive/active.

  • When account details are changed (location or date hired as displayed by attached image).

This could provide more useful information for admins, for example:

  • The date a user has been enrolled/unenrolled/re-enrolled and what courses.

  • If a users account has been merged with another and the emails addressed involved in an account merging.

  • If courses were administratively overridden to be complete, not complete, or failed for that account.

  • If the account was impersonated and by which admin.

Basically, any action taken on an account by an admin should appear here but this does not appear to be the case. Please make this history area more robust with information as this could prove very helpful for LMS admins.

I agree more data should be shown on the user history or a more comprehensive report be available as standard for an administrator to view. Particularly in regulated industries where you need to demonstrate why a change was made.

We just upgraded to AR and lost all history prior to the refresh. We need to see the user history.

Absolutely agree with this. When we switched to Admin Refresh we lost the ability to see a lot of the user history, which is important to us to know when critical changes are made to the account. Many of our user profiles don't even show inactivation dates now.

It would also be nice to be able to see when an Admin has modified a users custom fields. We use many custom fields to control enrollments, and when a users custom field is modified and causes them to be enrolled in the wrong course, we can't see why that was. We can only guess.

I second this idea, and add that we need to recover a user's history from before the Admin Refresh Interface switch from the classic interface. This history included many of the actions described above.

This is what I wrote in a ticket to the support (now closed, because there's no solution):

"We have noticed that the user history isn't available as far as it relates to events dated before the switch to the Admin Refresh interface. It is a bit of a problem to us, because we need to reconstruct certain events (changing shops, activating/deactivating a user for a certain period of time)."
