New File Manager: Navigation to the file manager from the menu
We need to access the file manager from the main menu, rather than through the Course Edit page. This was the navigation in the previous iteration of the file manager.
It's been 2 years since getting the "new" file manager and this still hasn't happened. I see this Idea has been marked as reviewed, but I don't see that anyone from Absorb has commented on this idea, especially with the amount of votes (42 as of today). This would be a huge improvement. It's ridiculous that thee only way to get to it is through editing a course. This should be a separate page that can be accessed via the left side menu.
Please make this happen! It would really help when creating FAQs and adding images/videos to FAQs. Plus, it would help with product elevation when compared to competitors. Thanks!
Thank you for bringing this up - it's something on my radar as well, and it's incredibly helpful to prioritize items when they begin to gain traction on the Ideas Portal like this.
We have some clients with a dependency on the legacy File Viewer, so we wanted to ensure an easier transition for the time being. In the future, that legacy view should be removed from the main navigation with the new File Manager taking its place. We just need to find a new home for the legacy viewer first :)
Yes, please make the menu file manager act and look as the file manager we see within a course. I was really looking forward to this new manager as a way to update PDFs better. Instead I have to go to file manager, remove the file, then go to resources, find that file, and upload an updated file. This is a really long way to update a file and we update files A LOT as information is always changing. Please allow the new file manager to show up under Setup > Files!
Definitely. Today, I needed to update a file used in the Global Resources. I had to go to Courses, open a random course, go to the thumbnail part, click to select a new file, which opened the file manager, then I was able to search for my resource and update it. This is a crazy process - it's illogical and too time consuming.

I agree consistency is what's needed, the old file manager is really terrible when trying to find something, please update it asap
