This is a suggestion based on experience with a previous LMS where you could choose between having emails trigger per course, or have them triggered once a day.
For users particularly new hires who will receive a lot of training when they start this would be a great delivery method as they would be able to see all the courses assigned in one place. If courses are assigned via a curriculum they will only see the curriculum title, and in the current status of the LMS if you choose to assign courses individually they then receive multiple notifications.
If this type of notification could be implemented, would it also be possible to trigger a notification to Line Managers for their direct reports who have upcoming training due in the next 7 & 3 days and 1 day before due as well as at timepoints after the due date?
This would improve the experience for all users (Admin, Manager & user).

Wouldn't you just put the items in a package and set the nudge email to every 1 day? For the "notification to line managers", you would just set a Scheduled Report to include the conditions you're mentioning.
I may be misunderstanding but if not, the features already exist.
