The Outlook invitations generated when a learner enrolls in an ILC session are created with a reminder 24 hours before the session begins. The default within our company for meeting invitations is 15 minutes. In request #240489, I was advised that "We currently do not have a way to set the reminder notifications to less that 24hrs." We would like to be able to choose the reminder time for Outlook invitations with options less than 24 hours.
I have little patience for excuses about pop-up reminders. If learners are living their lives by what pops-up on their computer screens, they are behaving like automatons.
That said, the reminders wrapped around ILC in Absorb seem to have been designed by people who never attended much less ever run training in an organization. A twenty-four hour reminder email makes some sense, but people expect notifications inside a 24-hour window. Further, for MS Teams users, the fact that the meeting links do not work in MS Teams, a reminder from MS Outlook where the links do work would be a timely assist.
This is a huge issue for us as well. A 24-hour reminder does not help remind people the day of the event.
We are hearing a lot of frustration about this within our company.
Agree. My current workaround is to set a Session Reminder email for the smallest increment - 1 hour before the session start time. However the 24 hour reminder is not very useful - especially for Monday classes. The system should allow the admin creating the course/sessions to select an appropriate calendar reminder time ideally. Or if that isn't possible, there should be a global configuration option for each company/tenant to set a default - at the minimum - at the company level.
YES! I was late for my own class that I was leading because there is no 15 minute reminder before the course. This is a standard practice for Teams and should be set up this way.
