An account selector would be just fine! While it's nice to see the email as displayed in various clients, to be able to choose from the list of users in the LMS would be perfectly acceptable.
This is a great idea. It sounds like you may want to see what the html and formatting in the custom template will look like when received by a Learner? Any insight on where/to whom this email should be sent? Should it be a write-in ad-hoc email address field, or be a selector of existing LMS user accounts? We usually prefer an LMS account selector for security purposes.
This would be very helpful for my organisation! I have used this feature in event planning platforms in the past but in Absorb, I currently have to continually enrol and unenroll myself as a test learner to see how the email will be displayed.
A 'preview email' button to open a pop-up of how the text would be displayed could also be helpful in addition to the 'send test email' feature.
