"Male" and "female" describe sex, not gender. A field for Gender should reflect actual gender descriptors, such as "man", "woman", or "non-binary".
Alternatively, if a business needs to know the biological sex of an employee for some reason, then the field should be labeled appropriately as Sex.
Sorry, meant to say "is not a required field"
Respectfully, Paul, I think this issue is less about business outcomes and more about inclusivity and doing the right thing. Even though this is a required field, by providing only two options as male or female, it reinforces the notion that gender is binary and may reinforce feelings of exclusion and lack of representation.
Hello Admins!
The field in question is not one that is required on profile creation, and we've provided a custom field builder that can be by used by clients to add fields that have client-created custom options in a drop down, or simply text fields that will take any entry.
All custom fields can be used equally to the built-in fields for filtering the user's report and in availability/enrollment rule builders to ensure learning related business outcomes are supported.
