We have configured a custom Dashboard that provides our department managers with an overview of their learners' progress at a glance.
This Dashboard consists of 10 "Course Enrollment Status by Department" widgets, 1 of which provides an overview of the overall progress of learners in their department, and the other 9 providing an overview of their learners' progress in each of our individual learning categories. Please see attached screenshot of the Dashboard for reference.
This setup successfully works using the tools currently available, however we are facing a problem when it comes to filtering data for sub-departments.
We would like to be able to have one centralised Dashboard which can be used by all of our department managers.
With the way the "Course Enrollment Status by Department" widget currently works, we would need to create a separate Dashboard for each individual department manager, with their specific department selected in the settings of each individual widget.
A central Dashboard could be achieved if the department selected in the "Course Enrollment Status by Department" widget can be set to a parent department, and when an admin who manages a sub-department views the Dashboard, they see data relating to the department they manage only. (Currently, if a parent department is selected, when an admin of a sub-department views the Dashboard, no data appears.)
These custom Dashboards are a powerful tool that can be offered to clients at a large scale, so a way of centralising these settings would make creation and maintenance more feasible.
Currently, when a supervisor has a visibility over a sub-department and down, they effectively aren't aware of departments above them, and when the widget is set to something above them, they can't see it and, as such, see no data.
In effect, we would need to add separate information for each department on the Dashboard which is not sustainable with almost 2K different teams in the organization. The cascading of the visibility would solve that issue and be a great plus for us.
