I think it would make more sense if the Learner Self Unenroll feature was a setting at the course level instead of the portal level.
We were so excited for the new feature that allows learners to self unenroll from courses that they self-enrolled in, but we are disappointed that the setting is in the Portal settings instead of each individual course. We do not want our Learners to be able to self unenroll from an ILC that they self-enrolled in because there's a lot of planning and time that goes into our ILC sessions. We had hoped that before this feature was implemented that it would be a toggle setting in the course settings so that we can turn it on for only Online courses and turn it off for our ILC's.
Another thing I thought of is that the toggle setting in the ILCs called "Prohibit Learners From Changing or Cancelling Sessions" will no longer be useful if this new self unenroll option is turned on. We have this toggle turned on for all of our ILCs for the same reason we do not want to turn on this new self unenroll feature.
While we appreciate the Absorb developers for coming up with this new feature, we, unfortunately, will not be using this new feature unless it can be a setting in the course settings instead of the portal settings.
I've just run into a similar issue. I toggled on "Prohibit Learners From Changing or Cancelling Sessions", but a learner was still able to unenrol from the course. We don't want them to be able to unenrol from a ILT session but happy for them to unenrol from an online course.
I also think it would make much more sense if the learner self-unenroll feature was a setting at the course level instead of the portal level!
Hello Admins,
We do understand the value of this, but we need to be cautious about making a sweeping change as there are clients making use of the feature in its' current form. We're going to take a look at the usage of this functionality across our entire client base before we make any decisions here.
This is huge. People may enroll in an optional/informational course, they may later decide they don't want to take. Currently they need to reach out to an LMS Admin to remove that enrollment. Being able to toggle in the course creation window to allow unenrollment (like they can for a session in an ILC) is very helpful and empowering to the learner. You don't want learners to be able to do it for every course, so having the option to turn it on or off at the course level will improve the learner experience and the admin experience.
