Currently, you cannot just mute a video you upload to a slide and lay audio over top. You must edit the video in another editing software to mute and upload that. Or else you end up muting the whole slide including your audio. To have it where we can edit the sound of a video within the system separately from the audio or the whole slide simply makes it more user friendly when creating.
