Easier way to locate owner of reports

This has come up because we need to delete an old department but are unable to because there is a defunct report layout attached to it. As this report was created several years ago and none of our current admins are the owner, we've been told that the only solution is to review each user's profile to find the owner of this report. This is an incredibly time consuming solution to complete such a small task. We'd appreciate it if there were an easier way to see report owners so that we can keep our system current.
