Enrollments are removed when Enrollment Rules are adjusted

When an Enrollment rule is adjusted such that a learner is no longer in scope for accessing a given course, if the enrollment has already been completed then no change is made - The option to remove enrollments which no longer align with Enrollment rules would result in fewer stale courses being displayed to learners

My previous LMS (Cornerstone) allowed the admin to select the behaviour they wanted to happen when enrolments were removed. They could choose to a) remove it from everyone (even if they had previously completed it), b) remove it from those not currently in 'Completed' status, or c) not remove it from anyone. This provided each department with flexibility to use the correct option for them based on their clients, whether content was free/paid, etc. Is this not something that could be considered?

Since this idea is unlikely to be implemented, I'd like to mention that we had Absorb create a custom unenrollment script for us with runs every 2 hours and unenrolls anyone who was enrolled via the automatic enrollment rules, no longer meet those rules, and are not yet complete. It may be something that could work in your portal as well.

This would be helpful as long as it was always a choice and we could see not just a number (This will affect 12 users. Are you sure you want to continue?), but rather if we can see who will be auto -unenrolled. We have too many admins and would hate for one person who changed an enrollment rule to unenroll thousands of others unintentionally. @Kendall I like the idea, but would vote if I could have a choice.

I agree with Jeremy and Kendall! This was functionality that we had in Torch and it just makes sense. We have several compliance trainings, as well as curricula, that are only applicable to certain job titles or employees within a certain state. Also, this would only pertain to courses/curricula that are enrolled by automatic rules/groups from the admin side. If a user purchased a course from the catalog, that would be a self-enroll and would not fall under this.

It would be helpful to have the option to automatically unenroll a user when the criteria are no longer met. For example, if the rule is set up to automatically enroll a user who is a member of the Accounting Group, it would also be nice to automatically unenroll that user if they transfer to another department.

Demetrio - do you have clients who enroll people automatically via a group rule, and then later remove people from that group but expect the enrollment to still be completed? That doesn't really make too much sense - I can see where if someone purchases a course then you wouldn't want to unenroll them, but so long as they're not intentionally removed from a group/enrollment based on a pre-set rule, I don't see why that would matter? Any auto enrollment rule should account for the type of scenario you propose (like ensuring someone has access for a determined amount of time after a purchase).

Thank you for your idea. We discussed this and we think this would not work well with our broader client base where learners have purchased courses or are close to completion of an in progress enrollment.

Definitely! We have many cases where employees change departments, job titles, etc. and then change the Groups of which they are (or formerly were) a member. When unenrollments do not occur automatically, it is very difficult to a) know it's even an issue in the first place, b) troubleshoot (e.g., admin first needs to verify the person doesn't meet criteria), c) bad experience for the User who then needs to request unenrollment.
