There doesn't appear to be a way to limit Collaboration participants to enrollees for a particular course. Adding the Collaboration to a course does allow the user to get to the Collaboration from the course page, but ONLY if the Collaboration is also assigned to them as a user or based on their department. I don't want to have to manually add course enrollees as users of the Collaboration. Could this be added as a "post-enrollment" option? When a user enrolls in a course, also add them as a user to a given Collaboration?
Currently, I've "assigned" the collaboration to the same departments as the course, but not all members of those departments will care at all about the collaboration.
It is really important for us as an organisation that we can segregate learners by course content as we are trying to protect the IP and ensure that content is only being discussed within groups of paid up students. at the moment the only option seems to be to mainly enter each student into a collaboration which, with over a 1000 students per class, is just not doable.
Hello Christopher and Tara,
Thanks for bringing this up and sharing your thoughts! We really like the idea, but at the moment, we don’t have this improvement for Collaborations slotted into the roadmap. That said, we’re continually reevaluating priorities, and while we’d love to take action on this and other ideas, we wanted to provide an update on where things currently stand.
If the prioritization changes, we’ll be sure to update this message. Thanks again!
I think this is a great idea as my organisations would like learners enrolled in a course to post questions or comments in the collaborations tool rather than the course comments. We have some workarounds with groups and badges at the moment but it would be much cleaner and simple admin for us if this was implemented :)
