Each client or user has separate progressions throughout their learning. In order to keep track our correspondents history with them, a longer Textbox capacity is urgently needed from the default 1-byte/255-characters limit.
The Notes Textbox inside the Course page is capable of recording significantly more characters. If the devs can match the Textbox capacity to the one inside the Course page, it will provide more room to keep track our clients. We would highly appreciate this quality of life update.
Alternatively, having the ability to add a custom text field that has the same capacity of the Notes in the Course page will work great as well.
Thank you for your support!
Here is another comment from the manager of operations at CDCR. Please note that CDCR (The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilatations is the largest employer of the State of Califonia. The Absorb LMS is the source of truth for all of their learning and devlopment.
"The notes field in the user area is a critical piece that CDCR uses to track information as it relates to those that have administrative roles in the LMS.We currently have some already that have more than 255 characters and we have to copy them elsewhere (Temporarily) in order to make any changes to their records. This is highly inefficient for the LMS Admins to have to do.Once this is restored to the v5 limits we can move those notes back to ensure that all that review have a full scope of the user data to make decisions."
Training and documentation are the two strongest weapons corrections legitagation. The standard 255 character limit creates a huge negative impact on our ablity to track specific training needs for our CO's (Correctional Officers) plesae consider greatly increasing this limit.
The limit on characters in the learner profile limits our ability to track learner changes as they develop within their roles.
The amount of characters we could capture in the user notes field downgraded to 255 characters when we implemented the admin refresh. This is dissapointing as we track user corresdponance and when they request re-enrollments in this field and 255 characters is not enough!
