On the General menu used to configure Questions and Quizzes there is an option to set the number of times a person has to pass a question or Quiz (1 - 5 or Until Passed). In our organization, we require employees to achieve a passing grade for all Graded courses. I tried to use the Number of Times feature by setting the option to Until Passed. It does not work for Quizzes. It was intended to be used for Questions. This is not satisfactory "as is". There is also an issue with the Failed message page. If a Quiz is Failed, the student can click the Continue button and continue through to the conclusion of the course. From my perspective, the development team has a couple of ways to resolve the issues. One is to adjust the existing code for the Quiz “Failed” message page to disable the Continue button and only have the Retry and Back to Quiz buttons active. Another is to do a more extensive code adjustment to the page to have only the Retry and Back to Quiz buttons on the Failed Quiz message page. Another solution would be to add an option to the Quiz General configuration menu so the client could choose how the failed message page should act. This might be a better solution because the client has more flexibility to configure courses they develop but this will involve quite a bit more work for the development team. Another possibility is to add an “Information icon” next to the Quiz retries field box on the Quiz General configuration menu that would explain the criteria for that field.
