When deleting courses form the catalogue, a useful function would be to be able to select multiple items and delete simultaneously, as opposed to selecting and deleting individual courses.

Agreed! I was told that the restriction on mass deleting courses is in place to prevent accidental deletions, which makes sense. Perhaps as a workaround, we could allow mass deletion with an added safeguard, like requiring users to enter their username and password.
