Automatically De-activate Users based on a Date

Currently there is no method for automatically deactivating users, the ability to set the status for a user to Inactive based on a Date field or Inactivity related to a Date field would reduce the need to manually de-activate users who are no longer engaged with the LMS

The feature is absolutely necessary. Based on rules set, the system should provide the option to activate or de-activate users.

The autoenrollment threshold set on courses should be the rule of automatic activation of users. The deactivation rule could be the completion of the curriculum or the date set for users to complete the curriculum.

As a best practice based on privacy/data management, Absorb should consider this as an option!

It's absolutely ridiculous that this is not a feature considering how much else is automated, especially since Absorb charges per user per year and many users will only need access for a short time.

Love this idea - have been getting this a lot from external user clients. As OP said - to choose to have an option to de-activate if not logged in for X days OR # of times within a certain period would be a great addition. One of the biggest reasons for using an LMS is the automation, and one of the biggest pain points for external clients is having to ensure that licenses are not unnecessarily being consumed.

We have just begun our implementation of Absorb LMS and we will be using our HR System to deactivate accounts when an employee is either no longer with the company, or goes on leave. We also have users such as housekeeping and security personnel who will be using Enrollment Keys to create their accounts, as they are not in our HR System. An option to automatically deactivate accounts which have not been used in six months for example, would be great.

    Agreed - deactivate vs. delete!

Karen - this wouldn't delete a user account as that is too dangerous a process to automate, but deactivating will largely achieve the same goal from a reporting standpoint.

Hi Paul G - yes that would be ideal from our perspective. Our service currently doesn't use this field so wouldn't be an issue for us! Thanks. 👍

Agreed! We would love some automation on deleting people that have left the org!

    Hello Admins!

We have a 'Date Terminated' field in the User profile that I am not sure anything is tied to (except as a filter on the Users report). What are your thoughts on tying this functionality to that field? As in; An active user gets deactivated on the date specified in the Date Terminated field. Of course if the account was already inactive, then nothing would change for the account on that date.

Before we committed to that particular implementation of this idea we would have to ensure it isn't being used by other clients during HRIS sync or some other integration, but initial thoughts?

Totally agree there is a valid need for this.

Our use case would be useful for agency/contractors who self register as not listed on our central HR platform which handles auto creation/deactivation via a auto-feed. Combining this so it could be a setting in and enrolment key would be great - either asking the user to add their end date or ability to auto assign one for the key - this could then be used to auto deactivate adhoc users.
