By default, the Overview/Lesson Details panel is displayed when learners start new courses.
On smaller laptop screens this panel can take significant space and reduce the available space for the actual course, forcing learners to go into Compact view in each course.
I'd like an option to enable the Compact view by default in course settings, so learners aren't bothered by the Overview panel at the bottom.

As noted above, it is possible to set this as a default for the portal as a whole here:
We have our system template set to "Compact View" due to this reason, and the fact that a majority of our courses contain just a single lesson. But, we have some courses that have multiple PDFs or Video lessons, and it is not intuitive to navigate. We want the learner to see a list of the documents or videos they need to open/watch rather than have to close out and click the Next button in the lower right corner. Our learners are having a very difficult time figuring that out. We need to be able to adjust this setting at the individual course level.
I believe this can be updated in the Template settings of the course. You can set the Course default.
