There needs to be a much easier way for admins to download a course upload file. In most instances we need to know that a user has uploaded a document AND see what the document is. There should be an option from the Course Uploads report to easily download what document was uploaded.
We are about to embark on a large project that requires course uploads. Including the Full Name and Employee Number fields in this report would make it easier for admins to see all uploads for a particular user. Easy access to these uploads is crucial for an FDA-regulated industry such as ours.
Downloading one by one is painful. Bulk download is definitely required and you shouldn't have to go to the course uploads report to do it, it should be available from the course itself.
@Paul - while the final uploader's file name is up to the Learner, we as the Admins can create/tailor that file to have a place for their name, if we know that bulk downloading will disassociate Learner from file. Sorta like grade school children's work, put a "Name" line at the top, if that information is needed. In our case we actually DO NOT want the Learner names (we primarily train external users) associated so the data is anonymized, but we still want to be able to save submissions to provide it to people unassociated with the Admin/LMS.
It sounds like we have a lot to learn about the workflows around Course Uploads! When we designed this we thought that uploaded files wouldn't be named in a way that would reliably allow an admin to associate a given file to a specific Learner if there were a bulk download option. At the time it was also put forward that having the download/preview and the score field on the same page was the right move so the 'uploader' was easy to associate with the open file, but in the case of a binary upload (approved/not approved) it probably is better to have a preview/download link right on the report page since a score field isn't necessary! The bulk download is not as attractive because of the file names being at the Learners' discretion, but if (when) this idea gains more traction we will revisit it for development.
We switched away from using Uploads at all because the process is so cumbersome. I hate sending users outside the system to complete coursework, but it's simply too much manual work.
Yes I absolutely agree with this, and we also need the ability to download multiple uploads at one time - at a minimum, related to the same course. Right now we have to submit a request for Absorb to do this and the cost is $500, which seems excessive since we are just trying to pull the data we've uploaded ourselves.
Yes! We need for local admin to be able to view those uploads and also to approve those uploads.
