Users get emails when they are enrolled in a course, nudge emails, and completion emails. Admins can set these preferences per course, but there doesn’t seem to be a place for each User to set their own preferences or for admins to do a mass override. To update email settings, someone would have to manually go into hundreds of courses individually and uncheck boxes.
